In the first qualifier, Kolkata Knight Riders will face Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 21 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. With 20 points, KKR grabbed the top spot and became the first team to advance to the next level. Consistency has been the key to KKR's success this season. The Knight Riders remained steadfast in all their endeavours, continued the momentum and accelerated in the league. The change in the captaincy worked well for the Sunrisers. With Pat Cummins taking the leadership role, the team witnessed an impressive turnaround in its fortunes. On the back of powerful hitting and a disciplined bowling attack, Sunrisers Hyderabad finished second on the points table and returned to the playoffs after 2020. 

It will be Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the eliminator match. RR had a solid start to the season with successive wins and held the top spot for a significant period before KKR overtook it. The team delivered impressive performances in the first half but struggled to maintain supremacy towards the end. The story of RCB's comeback is nothing short of an adventure, and its resurgence is remarkable. Having lost six games in a row, Bengaluru bounced back and surprised everyone. Descended to the bottom at one stage, RCB showed resilience and capitalised on the 1% hope they had. In a must-win match against CSK, they overcame all the obstacles and brought the game in their favour for the better.
